Tucson nurses and nursing students went to Phoenix today to protest Arizona's shortage of RNs.
After years of waiting, Tricia Rivas finally started nursing school
earlier this month.
Rivas says, "It took three semesters to wait to enter into the program because there were other students already qualified ahead of me."
You've probably heard about Arizona's nursing shortage, but the reason for it might surprise you.
John Rivers, President of the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association, says, "What we have today is not a shortage of people wanting to be nurses. It's a shortage of capacity to educate the number of people who want to be nurses."
