Maybe the article just doesn't explain it well, but it seems strange to attempt to rank top hospitals based on four fairly narrow criteria.

Q: What do you call a survey that does not include RN education, pay, and specialty experience on what makes a top hospital?

A: Delusional.

Surveys are interesting. They all sound like big metro hospitals.

Mayo Clinic Rochester-Saint Mary's Hospital (Rochester, Minn.)
Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital (Saint Louis Park, Minn.)
Children's Hospitals and Clinic of Minnesota-Minneapolis (Minneapolis, Minn.)
Children's Hospitals and Clinic of Minnesota-Saint Paul (Saint Paul, Minn.)

I did a clinical rotation at Children's MPLS last summer. My grandmother was a CRNA at Methodist. I have a classmate who is going to do a synthesis rotation on their neuro floor.

I am very glad that MN is a national center of excellence.

I am sure that you could rate ANY hospital a top hospital if you use the proper criteria. But still an interesting read.
