Shoes tell the story

  1. zion -- community members were able to see the aftermath of walking a mile in a nurse's shoes at a special exhibit tuesday.

    cancer treatment centers of america at midwestern regional medical center hosted a traveling exhibit based on a new book by nurse irene stemler, "heroic acts in humble shoes: america's nurses tell their stories."

    the exhibit displays worn shoes with photos and stories of the nurses who wore them. it was on display tuesday only, where the shoes of midwestern regional medical center intensive care unit and emergency room nurse april shaw were added to the exhibit.

    "we are delighted the shoes of a ctca nurse will be part of ms. stemler's powerful and moving tribute to america's nurses," said katherine puckett, ctca director of mind-body medicine. "the challenge was selecting just one of our many deserving nurses."

    They can have mine. I've gone through three pair and I'm not even out of school yet.

    I watched the video, I think the whole thing is really far out. I wish the video talked about a few of the other nurses featured too, but overall wicked cool.

    I have a pair of Airwalks that I've worn for four years now...there is no tread left on them at all. If she'd be willing to spring the $14 for a new pair for me, she can have my old ones!
