No actually I work with many natives who you would never guess to be native at all. That doesnt matter.
I see where you are coming from about being over sensitive is a big part of the problem, but I also think ideas and views like having to look a certain way is part of it too.
I didnt mean to be over sensitive, I wasnt angry or upset about what she said, it didnt make my day any different. I didnt sit and dwell on it. But I did have to share my 2 cents worth, even if it isnt worth that much...

okay. everything i wrote disappeared. i live on a rez. we are proud of our heritage and many of us are quite proud to have french, irish, german, scotch roots it gives us diversity. do not be ashamed claim your ancestry and remember their lives were important to them for future generations just as yours are for generations to come. as for medicine i have also lived in appalachia and seen health disparities of same seen here. there is good and bad in everything but unless we concentrate on those good things we can become burdened with the bad. yes much better medical care is needed more gifted people need to step up from our own hometowns and look at being doctors nothing can be blamed on education it is here for those who seek it much help goes to those who want this for their lives sad part is there is also fear of leaving home why? due to sometimes mistreatment by others......ignorance of some.......example not all indians steal or are lazy or drink booze......heck go to a sports bar what does one see there? much liquor and drinking is this good ......no alcohol for any of the races is not a good thing. well enuff said welcome green eyed one step up and be proud of your ancestry yes some may say your are only a nosebleed but to be honest you are more then that you are the future for many and maybe you will be the one who makes a difference for many......we have many green eyed blond enrolled family members are they less proud of whom they are i hope not.......only those who think that the color of the skin makes one a better human being or more culturally significant will this matter ......to many of us we welcome all our children and only want the disparities and hurt to end. hope i do not offend any..........we have many at pow wows with gray, blue, green and brown eyes all beautiful all our children......
