A proposed law in Arizona could give employers the right to fire women who use birth control. The bill, which sailed right through the state’s Senate Judiciary Committee, grants employers the right to ask for proof that contraceptives are being taken for non-contraceptive reasons.

That moronic bill you quote has nothing to do with smoking. This isn't "Orwellian Big Brother," this is idiot religious lunacy.
Interestingly enough, nicotine is widely prescribed for people trying to quit smoking with no objections from the right or left.
Your comparison of the two is baseless and amost as shameful of the bill you are bemoaning.elkpark likes this. - Mar 13, '12 by dudette10Quote from MN-NurseThe OP never claimed that the bill had to do with smoking. The comparison of the two in the way the OP has presented it is legitimate. I believe some of the arguments put forth for the anti-nicotine trend is that it is a slippery slope for not hiring individuals due to their lawful use of legal substances. Birth control is legal in this country, and the AZ law allows employers to discriminate against individuals who use it.
