nine wsu tri-cities nursing students and their adviser returned from louisiana last week after helping with hurricane katrina relief efforts.
after hearing about the hurricane and its effects, senior nursing student amy burk decided to do something. burk began talking with other students and formed a group of nine volunteers.
"within 24 hours, nine of them were ready to go," said terry maurer, director of communications for the tri-cities campus. "these nurses are a pretty close knit group. they start, go through and end the program together."
