Nursing school a scam in Detroit, MI

ATTENTION! MUST READ!
There is a new nursing school/program that just has gotten some well deserved negative media attention in Detroit. The name of the school is CAHP Healthcare Preparation. They claim to give people the training and skills needed to be a nurse yet they are not accredited by the state of Michigan. On their website they don't call themselves a school but a "training course or a tutorial program". I know that the waiting list is long to get the training needed to be a nurse but, do not buy into this scam! They will take $6,000 of your hard earned money and give you the promises of a nursing career. But, they will not be able to deliver. Below is a link to the article. I highly doubt that this is the last we will hear from them.

This is why people should go to programs that are accreditted by the state and the NLNAC.

Most schools in Michigan are accredited by CCNE, not NLNAC, including the university of Michigan, and Michigan State.

OP you should submit this article to be posted in the Nursing News section. That way it will get a prominent place and not buried in threads.

I read this article and the responses posted at the conclusion of the article.....are your freaking kidding me!!! A few responses to the article are unbelievalbe and concludes many people will believe and accept anything as long as it puts them ahead of the game. Short cuts without understanding the final consequences when making an unwise decision = destruction, loss of valuable time, money, emotional stress, starting all over, etc.

I hope and pray not another individual enrolls in that program without learning about its State Approval status. Accreditation is an important voluntary decision from the learning institution to seek (not to offend anyone or discredit accrediting organizations) however State and Board approval is extremely important. Imagine losing 6K of your hard earned money on a scam. When we learn to thoroughly research on our own, we will then learn to make wise decisions. We all make mistakes however we always get a 2nd, 3rd, 4th.... 15th millionth, etc. chance to make things better. Best wishes to you all in your future endeavors.
