At the very least the state board of nursing where they reside.

In Georgia, the Secretary of States office posts list of approved schools for LPN, AD, BSN - and those programs stay in compliance. I strongly encourage anyone who values their time, money, and quality of education to contact their states board before enrolling in any program. anywhere.

A similar thing happened to me 6 years ago when I was looking for CNA classes and this school called "Tech Com" 20 mins from me had affordable classes, so I went to look at the school, which was in this building with other businesses in a busy part of the city, and I was younger and naive then. I couldnt find the place and the security had no clue what I was talking about until one of their supervisors said "go to the second floor, they are Xintra now". I wish I walked out then, cuz I later found out they had a history of moving around, and multiple name changes because 4 people sued them cuz they took their money and ran. Like I said I was younger then, and I paid on my credit card (and I was able to get conditional credit when I told my credit card what happened), and I and a few others including the instructor showed up and we only had one class. Even the instructor got screwed out being paid! Also the Attorney General got involved and the media.

I just want to thank everyone for reading my post. I don't want anyone to get scammed out of their hard earned money by these con artists. I personaly know these people and what they are capable of. One word of warning is just to stay away from them! I know that nursing school has a huge waiting list and times are tough right now so you want to get your education as soon as possible but, please don't let that cloud your vision. Detroit is in need of more business and more money but, not when it takes the money right out of the people's hands. I know that the Detroit Free Press isn't done with this company yet and I will post more information if I hear of anything. But please, if you hear of anyone attending, wanting to attend, or that knows anything about this company tell them to just steer clear of them. I don't want these scammers to get any more money off of people who just want an education. Thanks again.

This kind of thing is nothing new. A woman I knew in the early 1990s who was a beautician told me about unaccredited beauty schools, which mainly existed to get student loan money, and coincidentally charged as tuition the largest amount people could get on the easiest loan to obtain. There were auto mechanic and other trade schools like this, too.

Anyway, one school in particular came to the Iowa board's attention because their failure rate on boards was nearly 100%, and when they met the women, it was really obvious why they weren't passing boards - they were retarded. They had been steered into this program as a welfare-to-work sort of thing, when in fact they were largely unemployable - and sadly, had children.

Hello all, both CAHP Healthcare Preparation and the National Medical Academy are not accredited. I called the state on Friday and was told they are scams and to tell people to stay clear of both. One question, why wouldn't one check with the state and do their homework before they sign up and pay for a program? I can tell you that it took me two months of researching my school before I signed up for their lpn program. I spoke to former, current and future students of my school as well.

Yes u can still take the nclex if the school is not accredited the problem is not being approved by the state in which the school resides if te program is not state approved your license will not be recognized and therefore unable to take the state board (If the school is NOT listed on the Proprietary schools list of licensed schools for technical and vocational training, the school cannot offer or be approved to offer a Licensed Practical Nurse education program by the Michigan Board of Nursing: http://www.michiganps.net/ )

From what I was told, WCCC is not accredited by NLNAC yet. Right now its a candidate for accreditation by NLNAC. Still a good program though. It's state-accreditted also.
