This is why my entire family came every day to see my grandmother and we never came together. there were 4 of us every day and many times more, her friends and sisters. No one knew when we were going to show up. They knew we would come just any time. I think because of that she got good care. So if you have any loved one go see them every day but never the same time move it around.

This went on for years.....OMG!!!! I would have decked him on the spot and worry about the consequenses later. (I know, not a good idea either) But, this is someone's mother or grandmother!!!!!!!!

It was not printed but basically said that they will get what is " deserved " when they get arrested. From an ex-prison nurse.

I totally agree with you and as an old nurse URGE everyone to do just as you suggested. I have worked in LTC for over 36 years and doing that is the ONLY SURE way to protect your loved one. As sad as it is, it is the bottom line.

I just cannot fathom how this went on for YEARS. Yes, I blame the corporation and obviously the sick bstard who did this but I also blame any staff who witnessed it and yet couldn't bring themselves to call the police once they saw that the facility wasn't taking any action. Is your paycheck so important to you that you would be willing to sit back and allow helpless elderly women to get abused? How could you even bring yourself to work in a facility where you knew it was happening and nothing was being done?!

We need to have mandated reporting laws for people who work with elderly/disabled populations the same way we have them for those who work with children. If this happened in a school, and an aid saw a teacher hitting a child they would be required BY LAW to report that abuse to the proper authorities (as in the police, not the principal) immediately. Why should this be any different? It's sad that we need laws to get people to step up and protect those most vulnerable, but I guess this story is proof that they are necessary.

I am shocked and disgusted! It makes me fearful for all elderly that can not speak for themselves. These are supposed to ge trusted caregivers--and yet this sick behavior. It's good the nurse spoke up eventually but why did she not call the police or make a complaint to the state when the company failed to act??? Those things are anonnymous
