This is so dispicable, I can't even think of a way to say what I'm thinking...
At the facility where my SO and I work at we do "body audits" on the residents who get a shower/whirlpool that day. Any new marks, tears, bruising, etc. is documented for the DON to review.

They need to put him away for good after they hang him by his balls and castrate him. I am sick with terror for these poor victims. The higher ups should stand trial for imbeding him to do these acts. Why didn't someone LISTEN.... Yes, I think I would clobber him too. Then call in the authorities myself. Against him and the others who covered this up. Just SICK

A local newspaper broke this story months ago, and the nursing home's owners then and right up until now tried to keep a lid on things.

Sums were paid out to victims families for out of court settlements, and what is more the company has been very active in seeking laws to cap jury awards.

Even more disgusting is the fact that taxpayers (that is you and I), pay almost three/quarters of the funds into these homes via Medicare/Medicaid.

Personally think it is time to start to license all NAs, and the various other techs working under a RN. Process should be same as for nurses and other professionals; full criminal background check, DNA check, work history check, and a clause about "moral fittness" for the job. At least with a license there would be a central place to report such vermin as this, and hopefully keep them from floating around.

Doesn't surprise me at all. I've witnessed patient slappings ("take your medications, Bastar%^"), reported each and every event and nothing. Not a single thing and the staff are still there likely doing this today.

I witnessed false documentation by a PT Dr....a trauma patient was supposedly getting out of bed and receiving PT. Turned out he hadn't ever left bed or had any vitals taken for the past 13 hours when I checked the chart....then the nurse filled in all the medication administration blanks and not a single person entered the ICU room my whole 6 hours there. I saw IV bags, full with the Pt's name in the trash.

I paged the doctor who claimed the patient's grip was 2/5 and legs were 3/5 without ever touching the patient, told him I knew what he just did and wasn't amused and the patient had never been out of bed and legally he must enter the room in order to bill. I didn't bother with the nurse...that facility was a mess top to bottom and this practice was common there. Technically I wasn't allowed to report anyone given my position. I even called the board and my CEO to make sure...,peeved me off so badly! I hate witnessing abuse with no legal power to do anything about it. What about the 2 nurses charged with felony for reporting a Doc recently? Health care is a mess! Nothing has changed since the first time I saw a stroke patient slapped during a m/s rotation.

When I read things like this, I start to wonder why public hangings are no longer embraced, seriously!

This is horrible. Reading the story, I try to visualize some of my stroke and elderly patients I've taken care of in the past and I just can't believe how on earth somebody would do this. I wonder if this aide was mentally ok.

Whenever you see things like this document out the wazoo and report to your superiors. Then document when you reported it, how you did it, and what was said/done. If nothing is done, then you take all your documentation to the Ombudsman, CMS, the Joint Commission, and your state's Office of Healthcare Quality. Then sit back and watch your admins sweat.

And yes, you may lose your job. But when you're seeing actual abuse and actual fraud, it's less likely you're going to get into trouble. Make sure your liability insurance is up to date just in case so you can get a lawyer.

Information on what will happen to this pervert. I have not read what happened but can tell you from experience, years, WHAT will happen when they go to Prison, well in Texas, at least. Being a x-prison nurse, number 1) he will be " busted " or "introduced"in the jail, then when gets to pirson,2) all inmates have moms, and grandmothers and will " take care " of him slowly, could be break, arm, SLIGHTLY cut throat, repeated selling to the highest BUCK, and this will go on the whole term and I can honestly say that the Bosses will turn their backs, then we nurses have to clean up the mess, and we do, time after time.
This breaks my heart as with anyone else but it happens and there are " systems " that do take care of these type of monsters, and that is what they are. So, pray that they STAY alive in the system, even if we are paying for them, because if we execute them, to me that's"TOO' quick, and I think of all the suffering the victum endured. That's just my 2 cents worth, hope not to affend anyone.
