Seven out of the top ten careers are healthcare-related roles. Interesting!

However, the article is still touting those rosy BLS predictions about the projected 20 percent growth in nursing jobs between 2012 and 2022. I will not hold my breath waiting for this prediction to come true.

Mathematically, I still think there will be an increase in demand for nurses in the next 20 years simply due to the age of the workforce.

I am a bit more optimistic about nursing's role in the future of healthcare in the country. I honestly believe that nurses are best positioned to change the locus of healthcare from reactive to proactive and from tertiary to primary settings.

My brother is ranked #1 and works for Disney. I think he is a lot happier at his office and job than me at times....

I recently looked over the 2002-2012 BLS predictions and than compared them with an actuality chart and they were significantly off from what was estimated in 02'.
There's a lot of variability and it isn't best to rely on the bls predictions despite government credibility.

Healthcare and computers. Interesting to see how the modern world is working - everything become technology-dependent, and we're all getting older and our bodies are working at falling apart.

Although I am of the opinion that the number of nursing jobs will be increasing in the next decade, because there hits a point where people physically cannot do the job anymore. I'm not saying to kick them all out, but I don't see somebody who is in their late sixties, early seventies being able to manage a full 12-hour shift without some assistance.
