'This is not the way she was going to go'

By Michael A. Fuoco and Kaitlynn Riely, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

...Lt. Col. Warman, 55, had been at Fort Hood for only 24 hours to be processed for duty in Iraq, a deployment for which she had volunteered....

...I knew she was going in harm's way in Iraq. [But at Fort Hood], this is not the way she was going to go," he said, choking up.
His wife's military career spanned 25 years in active duty and Army reserves.
A certified psychiatric nurse practitioner originally from Pittsburgh and whose relatives still live in area, she had undergone training in California in preparation for her mission and was due for more training at Fort Hood.
Mr. Warman and his wife were both graduates of the University of Pittsburgh, where she earned a master's degree in nursing.
The couple, who married in the late 1990s, had moved to Maryland in 2005 where Lt. Col. Warman accepted a job at a Veterans Administration facility in Perryville, Md. Prior to the move, the couple lived in Pittsburgh and she had a civilian practice at UPMC. She was an expert in post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury....

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed people are getting crazier and crazier? I just read on this forum alone about shootings at fort hood, a student beaten to death for no explained reason, and nurses getting stalked by the people they are trying to heal.

I don't think people are getting crazier - we just hear about it a lot more with the internet.

How sad for this woman - especially when she was going to help with PTSD and psych issues. Wrong place at the wrong time.

For all the fallen at Ft. Hood, from the daughter of a 1st cav soldier:

Into your hands, O Lord
we humble entrust our fallen brothers and sisters.
In this life you embraced them with your tender love;
deliver them now from every evil
and bid them enter eternal rest.

The old order has passed away:
welcome them then into paradise,
where there will be no sorrow, no weeping nor pain,
but the fullness of peace and joy
with your Son and the Holy Spirit
for ever and ever.

Amen.

God Bless our Men and Women in uniform -- they sacrifice so much for us all on a daily basis -- and now this. It is unfathomable.

Several seemed to be healthcare professionals. What I don't understand is this man was also a HCP, supposedly going over to help.

Its' all so senseless and the Red Flags were all there and FBI knew about this individual murder and this should of not happen in the first place. A JAG on Larry King Live said the FBI was following this Psychiatrist and his PC postings on Terrosist Acts that were not from a Psychiatrist medically related site on the internet and a US Colonel Reported what This Nut Case said to him " About the Terrorist should strap explosive on their bodies and go into NY,NY. to kill a bunch of people" He methodically plan this random act of cold blooded murder. He got a hold of these guns some how (the guns were not US Arm Forces Property a General Stated that) and he was not even schedule or suppose to come to that Facility that day. He was a Coward and a Murder! I have no sympathy for him. The Politically Correct will say well lets wait and see,oh we are not angry. ( Even a Family member who Father Died said she was not angry, well they do not live with Terrorist on a Daily Bases. Our Arm Forces do in declared War Zones and know how a even a ambulance can be use as a explosive device. So do the people who live in with these Terrorists day in and Day out. He was a USA home grown Terrorists and one sick Individual. I have no Doubt in my mind and Lord have Mercy on the ones who could of stopped this Monster, I do not blame them. I hope next time they wake up do the right thing. If they were watching him and his PC they had to have known he got a hold of these guns also. They will not report that to the public in fear of Terrorizing the Public. Yet the Government educates the Public on what to look out for and Report. This Psychiatrist was a Murder and Terrorist.
God Bless this Nurse and the Rest of the Victims and their Family and Friends.

The whole situation is terrible and leaves me with a feeling of hopelessness.

I will look forward to the murderer going to trial and being prosecuted as opposed to escaping punishment by death for his actions.

My love and thoughts are will all family members who will have such a hard time especially with the holidays on the horizon.

After I heard about it, all I could think about was all the nurses who went to work that day who thought they were going to have just another day, and suddenly they're getting casualties and wondering where their family members are, and if there's going to be another jerk with a gun come tearing up into the ER, or if someone had booby trapped a casualty with a grenade or IED.

And Dreamon, they just said he's going to be prosecuted under the UCMJ -- that's the military's legal stuff, and they don't play about serious stuff like killing civilians and firing on your own troops. He's not getting off, and my dad says he thinks they can use the firing squad. I just feel sorry for the nurses having to look after the murdering jerk.

I personally would delight in nursing him back to health so he could be fully ready to face the firing squad for his actions.

I also believe political correctness is not only bringing down this country, but in time is going to get a lot of Americans killed. Face it, it already has.

We dare not call a spade a spade, in fear of offending some group. No one has any balls anymore to speak their mind or to speak truth to anything. No one is united -- we are just a splintered country of hundreds of different ethnicities and factions, all competing for whatever -- resources, respect, entitlement.

There were red flags galore, yet even in our military, PC reigns and so people had to die for it.

When will this madness ever end?

As a military wife, I was crying all day Friday -- especially for the wives and husband with children who are left behind at Ft. Hood while their loved one serves. If it isn't enough to be alone waiting for them to return, worrying about their safety -- and now they have to deal with a nutcase ON THEIR OWN BASE, supposedly one of their own, shooting up defenseless soldiers.

The whole thing is a travesty, on our own soil -- yet too many Americans are hell bent on coddling the perpetrator. The enemy is surely within at this point in time -- that's how I feel about it.
