Today in the LaCrosse Tribune, November 15th, I read an article about several nurses in Sauk County Wisconsin who put together an actual "calender girl" calender, apparently to help raise money for a... Read More

They are not the first, look at CBS 3 - Philadelphia's Source For Breaking News, Weather, Traffic and Sports - Health Male Nurses Pose for A Good Cause. They state that this is only male nurses posing in this calendar.

it is not a nurse thing with the attraction- it is a UNIFORM thing. Not that this calendar mentioned had any nurses wearing scrubs or traditional whites.

Firefighters, firemen, cops, military, nurses, doctors, flight attendants, etc. I know there are a gazillion more I am forgetting.

wow. i'm a little insulted. i put myself through college modeling swimsuits and lingerie. so are you saying that only dowdy old people make good nurses, because obviously the pretty ones are stupid. or maybe that i couldnt be a good nurse because my scantily clad body was once in print? hmmmm, i think you need to dig a little deeper. a charity calendar as your nickers in a twist. there are so many bigger issues to fight, this just isn't one.

i'm really sorry you're so offended, and i cant understand.

i wonder what it would be like if we all came to work half naked one day. half naked nurses day! make a statement!! hospitals would save drastically on scrub cleaning...

of course i would have to be very careful picking my days to work, lol...

Hmmm. Does this mean they can now add "being published" to their resumes? Means an awful lot in some circles! LOL

So, people are going to buy this kind of smut and there is no stopping it. So, maybe it wouldn't be so bad if the calendar could have been something like 'Professional women who care' or something and had 1 or 2 nurses in the mix along with a lady lawyer, a lady doctor, etc. I could see it now...Miss February - Kimberly, a bioengineer from VA...Miss June - Laura, CEO of a fortune 500 company, etc.
So you are saying that it would be okay for nurses to pose for this "smut" as you called it, as long as it was validated by other types of professional women? With that very statement you disparage the professionalism of nurses. Basically you're saying that nurses alone making the calendar is smutty, but if you add other professional women it is suddenly respectable. It is statements like yours that perpetuate a lack of respect for the nursing profession.

I think what these women did was a brave, creative and loving endeavor for a friend. Any of us would be so lucky to have friends like those. I don't understand ones need to judge a loving act, or to be so audacious as to call it smut.

    Just one humble nurses opinion.

Im not offened. And I agree there is nothing wrong with being sexy.

Sex does sell, and they are doing something on the harmless side of it all, with benefits for charity. Id like to see more of it!

I'm surprised that people are offended by nurses doing it, but it seems ok for firefighters and police offers to have equivalent calendars.

I know nursing's image isn't that great. But there are more effective ways of changing it. For example: nurses on the floor should dress so they don't have excessive skin showing, wearingsweatshirt and t-shirts with provocative sayings on them. And yes, I've seen many nurses dress like that at work.

How anyone can call this "smut" is beyond me, its just a group of ladies looking at ways in which money can be raised for a good cause. The fact that they are nurses is neither here nor there. These women have obviously thought hard about what will make maximum impact, what will raise most money and probably what will get their cause most noticed. Can you imagine this making the news if it were a group raising money by cake baking! I think not.
The image of nurses is not tarnished by this at all, anyone who thinks less of nurses because of this probably didn't think much of them before anyway.
If youv'e seen any of the pics, you will see they are very tastefully done, not in the least bit smutty. I agree with a previous post, go see "Calendar Girls" before you make judgement on such a harmless piece of fun, good grief, there is a hell of lot more damaging things out there believe me.
