Nurse Calender Girls - page 10

Today in the LaCrosse Tribune, November 15th, I read an article about several nurses in Sauk County Wisconsin who put together an actual "calender girl" calender, apparently to help raise money for a... Read More

I would be inclined to say...if the calender is done in good taste...lets all order one.

I don't think there is anything wrong with this. America is a free country, which means they have the freedom to make this calendar, and you have the freedom to not buy it. These women are proud enough of their profession and bodies to show them off for a good cause. Hell, if they look good they should be proud to show their bodies!!! I would order one! If the pictures are tasteful (and it sounds like they are!), and the women are obviously doing this for a greater cause, then why so angry? It seems rather narrow-minded and judgemental to say that based on a calendar image that these women aren't good nurses! That's making a pretty bold assumption!

BTW, the OP spelled calendar wrong twice in the original post. It's calendAr, not calendEr.

I just wonder if there would as many complaints if these were younger women in there 20's or 30's or is it just that people dont want to see the body of an older woman? I have never heard anyone complain about young women models imitating nurses in very sexy and provacative "nursing uniforms" where she proclaims to be the head nurse. This hurts nursing more than a bunch of naked old women. Personally my hat (and clothes) go off to these women and can I be the December girl in the next calendar. I would love to be photographed on white fur (fake of course).

    ???????????

There are plenty of threads that have complaints about the sexed-up/pornified 'woman' dressed as a nurse. I know that, because i'm one of the complainers.

I don't think any of the complaints about this particular calendar have anything to with the age, it's more with the fact that they are nurses.

What? Nurses don't have sexuallity? Nurses might be human?omg It is ok for people to see be carry a bucket of pooh down to the hopper , or they might see me in the heat of a code but don't let anyone see I am human made of flesh just like everyone else. It is ok for patients to treat me as a servant but don't let them see me as an individual? I am a nurse whether or not I have a nursing uniform on or nothing at all. It wasn't the cap that made me a nurse . It is the ability to show empathy and care for my fellow human being that makes me a nurse.

Where did i say nurses don't have sexuality??

I only offered my interpretation of why i though that calendar has a few people upset, and i don't think that's age.

i haven't seen the calendar and i doubt if many of the posters have but they will praise/condemn and calll the op an incompetent nurse and praise the ms october morn as a loving caring woman or a naked hussy depending on the point of view seeing naked women doesn't do much for me but to each their own

Hmmm.... nothing at those websites or numbers....

    try these:

    exploited - Definitions from Dictionary.com
[it's the female in the photo that's exploiting others.]

    volunteer - Definitions from Dictionary.com
    [...and she willingly...]
    choice - Definitions from Dictionary.com
[...made the choice to mis-use her person in order to achieve personal gain from it at the expense of others' downfall, i.e. sex sells/contributing to the delinquency of...]

...and then there's the "in general" Christian take on selling sex, but this thread is long enough without all that, eh?

    The point?
    1. It's all in your perspective. You say women shouldn't be exploited. I say women should not be allowed to exploit us.
    2. I hadn't even heard of the calendar until the OP helped spread the word by posting here.
    3. Might as well argue abortion issues while we're at it.

Well, just for the record I'd like to lend a little support to Natalie. I don't like the idea of anybody taking their clothes off for charity but it seems to be something popular these days. In years past, this would have been labeled an act of immorality but because the definitions of "good" and "bad" are now "relative" and "what is bad for one person is not bad for another" is the majority frame of reference, this is considered something "good" to do for charity. I disagree with it and would not do it and am not planning on buying the calendar. Should they have their licences pulled? Perhaps in another time they would have. But those days are long gone. Let's face it, this might make me a dinosaur, but I am grown up to make up my own mind and nobody peed on my cheerios today. Let's agree to disagree?
    Keep on keepin on, nurses.
