    Nurses working shifts of 10 hours or longer are over twice as likely to experience burnout as nurses working shorter shifts, and 7 out of 10 patient outcomes were significantly adversely affected by the longest shifts, according to groundbreaking research from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing and reported in Health Affairs.
