A Middletown nurse is in jail, accused of stealing pain medication from Alzheimer's patients. The arrest comes after an investigation that spanned three nursing homes in two communities. Investigators call the Jennifer Helton, a 28-year-old licensed practical nurse, a drug addict. They say her addiction is so bad that she turned to stealing pain-patches off her patients.
Investigators say say nurses who followed Helton's shift noticed the missing patches, and they say this isn't the first place Helton has pulled off the crime. But when administrators there got suspicious, she quit and there wasn't enough evidence to press charges. 9News spoke to her from her home but she wouldn't comment on the allegations because she says her nursing license is on the line.
