by DoGoodThenGo Sep 17, '11New Jersey nursing-home care is less affordable and patients are more likely to suffer bedsores or need trips to the hospital than in many other states, according to a new scorecard on long-term care for the elderly and disabled.
Overall, New Jersey ranked in the second tier of states — 22nd — for choice, affordability, quality of care and support for family members who take care of the elderly and disabled at home. Home care was found to be more affordable here than elsewhere.

Maybe if they would employ more LICENSED nurses, they wouldn't have this problem. NJis too busy focusing their brain cells on 'BSN in 10' bull crap, instead of dealing with some real time problems- The impact of nursing unemployment on the overal health, welfare and safety of the state's population. If they would employ licensed nurses instead of low wage unlicensed personel, they outcomes might be a little better. If the Nursig managment would stop letting these unlicensed personel 'run the place by giving them card blanc with the few nurses licenses they have, that would be a step in the right direction also. The licensed nurse
atient ratio in these places is 30-60:1 and the non RN staff runs a muck. If the care aides don't feel like doing something- they don't do it and have no bones about telling the RN that. Whose going to stop them- 1 lone RN?? No big surprise- there are no avail RN positions in the Phila, NJ and NYC area. Way to NJ Health care- Congrats on you big rating
