I believe the RFID is an additional tool, however, we all know that there are many variables in nosocomial transmission. Utensils and other items dropped, casually retrieved and replaced as if clean. The worst offenders though are the "visitors" and as TrishJK discussed...Doctors and high eschelons of Healthcare professionals.

Why is it that we as patients never see our own Family Doctors wash their hands? Nuf said!

The lay-out of most Health Practitioners offices are infection friendly...check out where their hand sanitizers are located.
We must educate the patient and family to practice hand saitization and demand the same from their doctors.
