Maryland is predicted to be short 10,000 nurses in 10 years, prompting the state to take action to double the number of nurses educated in state in two years. The plan will create 1,800 new students in 2009, raising the total number of nurses studying in the state each year to 3,800. Saw the article since I read the baltimore sun online daily. Sounds like a good plan, but they need to fix other issues and to increase salaries as well to retain some of us practicing nurses. Economy keeps going up, and my salary remains the same. A lot of my friends are no longer in nursing, their bodies are wearing out.
