There is an online petition addressing violence in healthcare settings. The US Dept of Justice released stats on violence directed at medical personnel. Close to half a million documented cases of nurses being assaulted in the workplace! The report states that many more cases are not reported. A case in NY, a nurse was almost killed by a 400lb patient, who had several incidents of violence in this facility.
Please join an online petion to implement safety for ALL nurses. You have the option of signing the petition anonymously if you wish. http://www.care2.com Click onto the google search box and type in stop the violence against healhcare workers. Several states have enacted tough laws to make it a felony to assault healthcare workers. What about your state? Check out the petition, there are reponses from all over the world. Stand up and take action!

What should have happened to the killer has happened.

It is what should have happened to the killer at Virginia Tech.

I was just re-reading about how Richard Speck killed 8 or 9 or more student nurses. Those women all, one after the other, allowed themselves to be tied up by one man with a gun. If they had been trained to not allow themselves to be victims, especially just because they were women, if they had had even 1 weapon, the outcome could have been far different.

When will we learn that the 2nd Amendment is our protection, that we have a right to defend ourselves, that we must sometimes fight back? Today is a good day to do that, learn that.

And this whole thing about not guilty due to insanity - it is hogwash. It needs to go the way of the dodo bird. Someone who kills or maims or terrorizes needs to be put away, "insane" or not.
