I have had my run ins with foreign trained CNA's and Rn's did not have a good experience with them in a PROFESSIONAL setting they were abusive to there patients and neglected many to sit in there own urine. And would throw racial slurs and laugh at people who were not of there clique . So I guess you can all me a racist if thats how you define me .... even though you don't even have a clue who I am ! In fact my husband is from Mexico not legal and we have a daughter together .Thank you for your lovely comments......The way I feel was in direct response to my experiences with foreign nurses simply that .

To me, you sound like plain bitter to foreign nurses. Aren't you suppose to check/change if pt is wet? I work in an acute hospital setting, but have friends who moonlight in Nursing Homes. If you work in an LTC/SNF, you should know that RNs are responsible for 20+ residents. They give meds, check blood glucose, take vitals, change dressings, check MD orders, write nursing documentations, answer family members' inquiries, etc. etc... If CNAs can do at least half of these, then I have no problem washing half of my patients.
The unit I work in is very diverse; staff of Jamaicans, Africans, Hispanics, Filipinos, Indians, Russians, Koreans, White/Black Americans... lucky that our NAs help each other when it comes to bedside care, and call RNs only when extra hands are needed.

oh very offensive to foreign nurses...i wonder what is the REAL INTENTION behind posting this thread...by any chance do you have an argument or envy to a particular foreign nurse...hmmm...i bet most people in america are not pure americans anymore...most are half breed...your ancestors were immigrants in the US before...it is so selfish of you to say that you are the only ones who should fulfill your american dreams..even obama is not pure american...so why are you discriminating foreign nurses...in my opinion whoever is qualified should get the job immigrant or not..give chance to others and don't be insecure. if you are doing your job well, why be afraid? afterall, all nurses regardless of race is there in the hospital for one big reason and that is to save lives...all of us nurses see dying people everyday, so we should strive to be better people not envious coz one day we will be in the dying patients shoes...and the worst is having nurses who have no unity attending to us because of envy...not good...

That is a pretty generalized statement. Like saying you've had a bad experience with, and therefore despise, everyone who wears the color green. Surely there was SOME foreign-born nurse or manager with whom you've either had a pleasant professional working relationship with and/or respected?

Or do you simply go INTO the world with your hatred so firmly in place that no foreign-born nurse (or others) have a chance? If someone despised me at the outset of our working relationship; made it clear they thought I was beneath contempt, then I think I, too, would react in kind.

I believe therein lies your problem, Miss.

So far you've given me no alternative. Your posts thus far have been filled with venom, and, I believe, obvious racial undertones.

You tell me.

You say I haven't a clue as to who you are...that much is true. Such a statement can be applied to all of us. No one here REALLY knows the person behind the computer screen. Thus, we are judged upon our words, and in some part, our actions here on AllNurses.

And this means what? You are harboring an illegal alien and yet you don't want foreign-born nurses? Kind of splitting hairs, don't you think?

My wife is from England, which makes her foreign born (our kids are grown and long gone from our home.)

Does this absolve me from possible claims of racism or simple ignorance? I think not. Your relationship with a Latino (national or foreign born) obviously does not prevent your intense hatred of Filipinos (and, perhaps, other nationalities.)

I don't think you really understand what the word clique means.

Marrying a Mexican doesn't constitute proof that you aren't racist. It might mean that you find Mexicans acceptable and/or that perhaps you are a latina yourself. Maybe you're simply racist about people from the Philippines. That you are married to someone who is undocumented hardly places you to comment other immigrants entering and staying in this country LEGALLY.

As for foreign trained CNAs -- last I checked CNA was not a qualifying profession for immigration. Which would mean that these CNAs you have had run ins with are people who have immigrated LEGALLY from other countries via a non-work related channels. Subsequently they have trained and obtained work as CNAs.

Finally, saying that your feelings only relate to foreign nurses is not the case. You mention CNAs. CNAs are NOT nurses.

I am only reflect the economic status that is reflected by the WHO poverty level, I have seen posted on this board where families have sold their last asset for a scam nursing program that does not inform students there has been retrogression since 2006.

Also my ancestors were driven out of their native lands ( they would have been killed if they stayed), they were so proud to be Americans and embraced American Society, became citizens as soon as possible and became civic advocates. What this thread is about foreign nurses cutting ahead of the immigration line due to a special skill set something very different.

I believe the US recently passed a bill for Iranians who are in danger if they return home. I don't believe these economically challenged nurses are fearful for their lives.

The people that come from Mexico provide a great service to America and ,unfortunately they make it so hard for people who really deserve to come and make a decent life here like my husbands and millions of others . On the other hand importing nurses is hurting our economy because they are making the nursing shortage into A NURSING SHORTAGE nurses here should have first priority to jobs not foreigners . Thats how I feel plain and simple.....

p.s. I never made racial slurs so do not make it out to seem that way !

I do not believe that the Iranians are necessarily in danger if they go home. Knew a Pakistani man who used, as his excuse for staying in America, that Paki customs officials would expect a bribe to leave him alone when he arrived there. The US court didn't buy this and sent him home. He's fine and its 15 years later.

I have known doctors from Iran and other countries who said the same thing - that they'd be in mortal danger if they went home. They got to stay here. Maybe they bribed Customs officials here, or judges. Who knows? It 's not like we were short of doctors.
