Those that can do it - do it and those that can't - teach. As I think back to all the instructors I have seen/known I have found that is true to a certain point even in nursing. Even the ones' that claim to be passionate about teaching and helping the future nurses, always wanted to do it... didn't get into it until their age, weight or something else made it diffucult for them to be on the floor. The best instructor I had didn't get into it until her age/weight made it difficult to work. Teaching pays alot less than doing the real thing. I should save alot of people the effort of defending someone/their mentor.. by saying I know there are exceptions to everything including the "do it/teach" rule.
I had one instructor (a filipina) that pulled my filipino buddy aside and told him he shouldn't be asking questions in front of other people (in class)because it made Philippinos look stupid. I am glad to say she only lasted a couple months.
