Can docs in the UK be sued?

Yes but it happens less frequently

Bless him. When he's describing frayed nerves in the minor cases, he states, "The nurses and receptionists bear the brunt of it."

    Thank you, UK doc.

Sounds no different than my ED.

Patients showing up late at night wanting CT scans or MRIs simply because the route through their PCP will take a few weeks.

The sad part is, more often than not, they get what they were looking for.

That about which I'm truly amazed, though, is how long (8, 10, 12, 14 hours) some people will wait to be seen for very minor complaints.

Thanks for sharing ... clearly Emergency is Emergency no matter where you go. Some variation in protocols and certain socio-cultural realities ... otherwise it's all the same.

Don't believe everything the Daily Mail says. I read that site quite often and I notice they totally hate the NHS in the UK. They are a tabloid also, probably about 50% of what they print is true.

Thank you. The Daily Mail is a Rupert Murdoch publication - think of it as a print version of Fox News. I went right off it when around five years ago it was impossible to read a version of the paper that didn't have a story about an elderly person who died because of "lazy nurses" and "Bring Back Matron" stories. They then ran a series of articles about why nurses don't need degrees. When the NHS was cutting nurses and staff to patient ratios everywhere British newspapers just ran stories about how nurses suddenly became lazy.

I wonder if they have the equivalent of UC there.
