Re: Cuts loom for nursing homes in Indiana .....learn about Alternatives to SNF care
If you know of any teens I can rent let me know- I have none. as for my priorites- I think being in bankruptcy and the judge of that bankruptcy court has mandated where my prorities are for me, the terms of a bankruptcy during the first phase is that the debtor go out and get a second job. Which came about as the result of a divorce- but maybe I should have stayed in that also where my priorities lay? nurses can fix anything- can't they? the rest of this was an added bonus, My original post was not about the lack of available SERVICES to elder care, but the twisted system that would rather pay $6,000 to a LTC choice vs. $3,000 to a PACE/medical day care choice to where a family could still work ( to buy those luxuries in life like food, heat, electric, water bills) should my sister( a single parent also) stop working- now you have 2 households out of work. Honestly, I would NEVER put my mother in a LTC- because of all the fighting I've seen in Nursing all over since 1980 ( RN vs. LPN; Nurse vs. Aide, Administration Vs. Nursing staff) this fighting has and continues to detract from the main focus of the job (ie. an aide doesn't like a nurse for what ever moron reason so the aide refuses to do a BP and the nurse has to stop what their doing to do what the childish moron refused to do, that nurse is distracted, has more work and lost focus and above all HAS LEARNED TO KEEP THEIR MOUTH SHUT ABOUT IT, and the aide goe on thinking - put that nurse in their place!! where's the resident in all this??? this is not new nor is it exclusive of LTC, it also goes on in hospitals. why are the LTC facilitites decub Hell because of this crap. someone always thinks they are STICKING it to the nurse- total disrespect for the resident who is paying their wages and the nurse. It's not always the aide- I have worked with some dynamite aides in LTC. there are LPN's who don't know the actions or even the correct spelling of the meds they are giving, and get their panties in a bunch when the RN supervisor is called by an irrate daughter and SIL about the LPN's "attitude" and the RN supervisor has to explain to the family why grandma is on IRON pill- come on?? again, I have worked with some fantastic LPN's. I do not want my mother in a place where this crap is - and it's all over the place. when nursing can put an end to this, them I will let my mother go into a LTC. When my mother was hospitalized I was trying to give the RN her medical history- the RN was called away, NEVER returned to finish the admission, neither did any one else!! There was fighting going on there too amongst the staff. How many times have we ourselves reported staff for this and was told" settle it amongst yourselves", you learn to shut up about it. In June My sister and I find out mom had had a MI- age undetermined, may be if the RN returned to complete her admission it wouldn't be undetermined- the reason for the admission- a fall on a sidewalk in someone who could out walk any 20 year old, never drove a car. no MRI ordered, no holter monitor. I hope the aide who was arguing with that RN is happy with her self, with a real sence of satisfaction. I would like her to stick her head in the toilet and flush.
