Corporate Pressure on ER Docs to Admit? Investigation

On of our physicians recently made the statement that he didn't consider a particular ER admit to be appropriate for inpatient care. He called himself, "the conveyor belt operator of (name of hospital)." We all laughed, but it's apparently more true than we knew.
