Midwives, nurses can safely perform abortions

Abortions are just as safe when performed by trained nurse practitioners, midwives and physician assistants as when doctors do them, a new review of the evidence suggests.
Researchers analyzed five studies that compared first-trimester abortion complications and side effects based on who performed the procedures in close to 9,000 women - and typically found no differences.

Most people who hear "nurses" will think of RNs and LVNs, not NPs. I wish the headline had specified NPs and Nurse Midwives.

Took my title from the OP but left out "some", in hindsight and though other news articles do use "nurses" can see your point. Will ask the mods to insert the word in deference to your (and one assumes others) concerns.

    Hey friends,
Are any of you working on these issues currently? I'm interested in this, applying to grad school to work on this, and would love to chat with anyone else about the place of nurses/NPs/nurse-midwives in this situation. (Also which schools are the most supportive with training!)

    Feel free to PM me.
    Thanks!
