Cleveland Clinic was founded by doctors. It is all about doctors. That is the difference. I did not work at the main hospital but I worked for them in a hospice capacity- I was not impressed in either how we were treated, or the way it was run.

Although the Rochester location was the one specifically noted, Mayo also has locations in Scottsdale, Az and Jacksonville, Fl - two very different, but warm and sunny, climates!

I wasn't a nurse at the time, but I worked at the Jacksonville location and had a very good experience.

Yes you are correct a doctor needs a good nurse, but nurses don't understand all the power that we have they are to busy being passive and having that old slave mentality " yes doctor". I also feel that since nursing has more women then men the love to back bite, gossip and tear each other apart instead of helping one another out!!!

What good is a "top ten" hospital when administration does not listen to the nurses, ignores the high patient acuity levels, is always attacking staffing levels, and institutes ridiculous policies that do not ensure patient safety????????

Actually, a doctor does not need a nurse; a patient needs a nurse. Nursing care is not now, and never has been, dependent upon the presence of a physician.

That's how PAs were born, and NPs rejected by physicians, many of whom state, "I don't believe in NPs!"
