hello, my cousin started at $22.75/hr two years ago as a bsn RN in an Akron, OH hospital. I was told that that hospital tops out right now around $27... but i dont know how accurate that is. LPN's start at $14.60 or so.
If I were you, I would send an e-mail to the HR departments of the areas you are interested in. Tell them you are considering moving to the area and ask for a baseline for a new grad. I'm sorry, I don't have any info on nursing home, etc..
I heard Columbus area pays more.

Good Luck!! I'm graduating from an LPN program in 2 weeks and we are considering moving to florida... But after what I"ve read on here, I don't know anymore!! I've emailed the hospital I'm interested in and I'm waiting for a response.... as to pay rates.

Can someone please tell me RN salaries for the state of Ohio and Minnesota. I'm currently nurse student in MN and was thinking moving to Ohio. Do you think Ohio has higher or lower salaries for BSN RN's ?

Please let me know what you earn if you are currently working as RN in MN or Ohio and your eperience.

    Thank you

Unless Hr specifically advertises their pay rates inthe local papers, its unlikely they will quote a pay rate via an email inquiry.

I made 19.80 nights cardiac stepdown, made about 34,000 a year before taxes and had a huge team.. ( 8 some nights) and I have an ADN and now I work in psych and get 22.00 an hour and got a sign on bonus...and will make about the same doing 32 hours a week..but agency nurses make $ 35.00 to 40.00 an hour. Thats why I quit on the hospital for a while.
I agree with that.. we not doing for the money we are doing for the patients
I guess we are being robbed.. but I like Oklahoma and its people so I stay.

Where does Oklahoma figure in the charts? I bet it is one of the lowest paying states in the USA and it has a relatively high state income tax. It's a wonder any nurses work here in the good old OK.

That may be true, but around here it is standard for new grads. They have no problem telling you. The Florida hospital may not reply, but it's worth a try!

The obvious variation in nurse salary in most popular cities in America is not far fetched. These cities are overpopulated, over-industrialized, and overburden with series of medical issues requiring the services of the very few nurses available. When you consider the standard of living in various cities in America, you will realize that big cities with high salaries spend more on necessities compared to others. Again, the principles of demand and supply are working here, and the nurses are getting their dues.

You're right- they are very open for new grads- it seems to get more hit and miss and negotiable with the more experienced potential new hire.

I am a student too in California. I hope that is true! If anything, once I get my A.S. degree, I will go for B.S. and if all goes well, I'll continue until I am a Nurse Practitioner. I hear they make a TON! But I will start with the A.S. degree to get me started. I am so determined! I want the finer things damnit!

Don't be in too much of a hurry to marry. I married too young. NOW I get to go to school. (I'm 22)
