Applying for different position

I have an opportunity to apply for a different position in our organization, but I am having incredible guilt feelings. I'm currently in a management position in home health, and the job I am applying for would be a lateral move, same pay, with 1/2 the responsibilities. It would also be a chance for me to learn new skills. The problem is that I am afraid it would take a long time to find a replacement for my current position. I like my current staff, and I feel bad for wanting to leave them, but I am also stressed with my current position and ready for a change.
Any thoughts?

I could almost have written that. Except I'm negotiating a position in a different facility altogether.

It's hard. But if I continue on with the super stress I'm under now, I will not be able to give to the staff what they deserve from me and can't help them. Over time, I could even be a detriment to them.

I have toyed with the idea myself, and you are right, it is a tough decision. With the stress of this position, how effective are you? Perhaps it will take a new pair of eyes to give the staff what they need. It is incredible what the stress of this job can do to staff, and to yourself. What will make you happy?

Thanks for your responses. I think it would be easier if I were applying outside the organization. They still haven't posted the other position, so I have had time to think about it. I really need a change.

consider this - if you leave then that gives another person the opportunity to work with the staff and maybe the newer approaches would benefit all. You might be allowing someone else to have the job THEY always wanted.
