Will my past prevent my future?

Hi All,
I am soon starting nursing school, devoting 2 full time years to the schooling and borrowing $50K. However, 11 years ago I received a DUI and a misdemeanor drug possession. I was 21 years old. When I called the state board, they can't give me a definitive answer on whether or not I will be accepted, and of course they won't even look at the application until I am close to graduation. I am terrified to go into this much debt for nothing and am hoping some of you out there have some insight, or know of others that were in similar situations. Will it be a waste of my time?

we cant give you any legal advice, but if you have been accepted into school i would think this is a good thing....presuming that this school does back ground checks and you passed? other than that, try to find a way to research the boards findings in similar cases, this may/may not be public info......good luck

We are running into more posters with these types of issues. Sorry, we just can't help you. Advice would be to hire an attorney who specializes in these types of issues. Good luck.
