well i asked for opinions because i dont know how all this works and i needed advice i am going crazy waiting to be approved.. i dont know the difference between charge and convicted, i went to court and plead guilty then i got probation for six months,, i was 16 now im 20

Hey, don't feel bad. When I was younger and had broken the law, I plead guilty also. However, the word 'conviction' to me meant trial by jury and since I didn't have a jury trial, I didn't know I was 'convicted' so to speak. I was offered a position with a big lab corporation about 7 years later and when I saw that question on the application, I put no. Mind you it was only my second job in my young life and since the first job was an inside job, I didn't fill out an application for it.

So I gave two weeks notice at my first job and in the course of a conversation on how I landed this second job I talked about my record. I was told that pleading guilty was the same thing as a conviction and feeling horrible for 'lying', I called the agency that same day and told them my error. They called back a couple of days later and rescinded the offer. I was supposed to start 2 days later. They said even though it was an honest error the fact still remained that I in effect lied on the application.

I wasn't a career criminal and I didn't know the ends and outs of the justice system. I was in my early 20's @ the time of my offense. The consequences and aftermath of my case wasn't explained to me so I was ignorant but I guarantee you that after that learning experience I did my research. I now know the particulars of my situation but for the sake of your own integrity, do your research. Find out the particulars of your case and sit down with someone who can explain to you the collateral consequences of your guilty plea. It sucks I know but you'll get through and at least you were able to do your clinicals.

Good luck to you. :)
