Success story from TN

Nurses Criminal

Published

I graduated nursing school in May. I have 2 convictions from over 7 years ago. I took my NCLEX today. I had 75 questions and got the good popup from the Pearson trick. I think I might have passed, but even if I did, the BON still might not give me a license based on the convictions. So now the waiting begins. Anyone else in the same situation?

I am crossing my fingers for you! Please update us when you hear back! Isnt the fact that you were able to sit for the NCLEX a good sign? or am i making that up?

Thanks. No, the BON here lets everyone take the NCLEX, then they decide if they are going to issue the license. Crazy, I know. I called them a few months ago and ask if my convictions would keep me from getting a license, and the lady I talked to had no idea. She just said they shouldn't keep me from getting a license. That really didn't help much, lol. So now all I can do is pray.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I have 2 convictions from over 7 years ago. I took my NCLEX last week and passed. I wasn't sure if I would be able to get my RN license or not, but I received it today! There are so many sad stories here, I wanted to share a positive one. For everyone trying to get your license, DON'T GIVE UP!! Keep trying! And whatever you do, don't lie to the BON. I disclosed everything to them on my application. They see lying as worse than the actual convictions. Good luck everyone!

I received my license today! Thank God!

Can you give a vague answer as to the type of what the convictions were for, out of curiosity?

Both my convictions were misdemeanors. The first one was for shoplifting and the second one was for writing a bad check. Both were over 7 years ago. I was honest with the BON about the convictions. Another word of advice, before you submit your application to the BON, do a state background check on yourself. I did one before I applied, and one of my convictions was wrongly listed as a felony. I had to go through a lot to get it fixed, but if I hadn't, I may not have gotten my license. Make sure it is accurate before you apply.
