Im a new nurse..please help!!!

  1. 0 Hey everyone!!! I graduated in December 2011 and just passed my boards March 23, 2012 and now Im in the process of finding a job! Im in a small town in Florida called Tallahassee which is saturated with new grad nurses from 6-8 different colleges and its tough finding a job. I had an interview on Friday which I thought went well but no call...I would have not been too worried but several classmates had an interview the same day as I and they recived a phone call 45 mins after their interview. Im a bit depressed and after 105 nursing applications im bummed out...any advice???

    Only advice is to keep at it. If you give up, you know you won't get a job. Hope things turn around for you soon.

    Have you tried applying at LTC and Home Health care Facilities? You may have to apply to places a little further than you want to drive to get your initial experience and go from there!

    I was offered a great opportunity as an RN in a GN program. But unlike most of you guys I've made really bad decision in my life time. So after being offered the job and being cleared by Occupational Health I received a phone call 2 days before orientation stating my backround came back positive and they would no longer hire me. Grand Theft when I was 18 (which was expunged but still came up, but after I contacted the agency they removed the charge and updated my file) and Petit Theft when I was 19 first year in College. I did not disclose this information because one was expunge ad the other was adjudicated Witheld no conviction. After moving and quitting my old job now I'm in a city and apartment I can not afforded. My life is over. I've shut everyone out of my life because I am humiliated and devastated that I've let everyone down including myself. I think about ending my life a few times a day and pray for strength.It took me a few weeks to write this post because it truly hurts to talk about it. The worst part is I didnt even disclose this information to the BON and now I might loss my license. Life just seems to get worse everyday. I never suffered from depression until now. I'm about to be homeless and I have no one to turn to, but God. I have a few questions to ask please stay positive:

    1. Will I loss my license if I try to bring up these arest to the BON?

    2. Will I ever be able to work as an RN with these arest records?

    3. What states don't allow employers to ask about arest?

    THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ MY POST!!!!

    PLEASE KEEP ME IN YOUR PRAYERS GOD BLESS AND TO ALL MY NURSES PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM TROUBLE!

    undoubtedly, we are no angels and everyone has committed foolish things in their past, for more the reason to come clean with the bon in your state. unquestionably, i truly beleive on the saying that goes he who has no sin shall cast the firt stone. having said that, whatever the results may be i want you to never ever say those words again and i quote " my life is over " because there's a reason why we are all here including you. in your case i would contact the appropriate attorney that handles these type of cases in your state, and leave it all in the hands of the one above, as i wish you the very best always and send you a warm hug from across the miles...aloha~

    [color=#b22222]love2244,

    my heart goes out to you, and i will pray for you. please dwell on gitano's words of wisdom. (((love2244))

    you have your faith. cling tight to that. also, i know there are attorneys who specialize in nursing legal issues. i would encourage you very strongly to let a professional handle this. you can post in the:

    nursing licensure with a criminal history forum, too. i think they supplied the information on that type of attorney.

    don't give up!

    I don't have any advice but I wanted to show my support. It's heartbreaking to lose something like that over old news. I would think, though, that at the very least a consult with a lawyer is in order. Many attorneys will meet with you for free before they officially accept your case.
