Help! Clinical Phase of Nursing Program

Greetings,
I'm in the last phase of an RN nursing program in California. I'm due to perform another clinical phase of the program at a 'State' hospital. Problem, I had a DUI 8 years ago and must clear a background check before doing 5 day clinical. The DUI was a misdemeaner, I'm off probation, have no other issues on my record, and even had the DUI expunged in court. With an expunged record in California you still have to acknowledge a DUI when applying to enter (work in) any State or Federally run facility.
My background check is currently pending, but will need to be cleared within two weeks. There are three other people in our program in the same place. Maybe this won't be a problem, but the Nursing School admin. seems to know nothing about this type of scenario, but I can't believe it hasn't come up in the past. Help! I've had nothing but straight A's in all graduate and undergraduate work, I'm commited and serious, but kind of worried. Any information out there?

Default Re: Help! Clinical Phase of Nursing Program
Questions we seem to be encountering more and more often have to do with the effects of a criminal history on nursing licensure:

Is it possible to become licensed as a nurse if you have a criminal history?
Is it possible to become licensed as a nurse if you have a MIP, DUI, or other related charges?
What happens if you are charged or convicted of a crime after licensure?
Can I go to nursing school and/or be licensed if my record has been sealed or expunged?
Will I be able to go to nursing school with a criminal record?
What can happen if I receive a MIP/DUI/DWI or other charge while still in school?

These are questions that the members of allnurses.com cannot answer. The only reliable source of information is your State Board of Nursing. Each case is dealt with on an individual basis
