Declaratory order to Texas BON

Nurses Criminal

Has anyone submitted their declaratory order to Texas? I am getting very anxious as I submitted mine and it's been 3 months with no response. I know the process says 3-6 months, but I know some people who received responses in less than a month. I am just wanting to hear from someone else who had to wait also so I will not feel like there is necessarily something wrong. Thanks.

wow really Joonbug! I just submitted mine last wed. I had to overnight my package. Long story but, I was accepted into nursing school to begin spring '09. And now the dean told me if I do not get my declaratory order by Jan 5 then she will have to give my spot to someone else! I too have seen that other people have received their D.order within a month or month 1/2. So I am very surprised that it has taken 3 months! I read on the website as well that it can take a min of 3-6 months! I really hope that I will get my response in soon. Do you have a misdemeanor or felony? I have a misdemeanor for theft....very stupid mistake that I made when I was 17, I am now 23 and I have not been in any trouble since then.

I am waiting to complete my background check. Did you go on the , http://www.l1id.com website to register for the background check? and how do you know when to register? I know it says you should wait 10 days after you submit all of your documents but I have no clue how to see if my name is in the system.

And the reason I did not get my Declaratory order in sooner was bc my advisor from the SON told me I could wait until I was in nursing school to do it! BIG MISTAKE! Now bc of her I might loose my spot! I went to her about 6 months ago and told her my situation and she said you will be fine you dont have to do the D.Order until your in the program! I have been stressed beyond words bc I have worked very hard to get into nursing school and now that I have it could be all taken away from me....I would have to reapply and hope to get into the Fall semester :(

I have not been accepted to a nursing school yet, but plan to apply next fall. I submitted my petition on Sept. 25th and had a response by Oct. 21st. Are you sure they received the packet...do you have some sort of confirmation that they received it from the USPS, etc....or however you shipped it.

Hi Sockmonkey, What did the letter say when you received it? I called the BON today, and now I'm a little worried.

They said that it takes 30 days to approve your paperwork and 3-6months to get the final approval :( I hope the person I was talking to was wrong. Thank you for your help

BON rep correct ---Depending upon severity of issues, 3-6 months is average time.

I wish I had the letter here in front of me, but it's at home right now. Basically, the letter said that I was approved to take the exam; however, that approval, did not mean that I was authorized or eligible to take the exam and that upon meeting all the requirements and paying the fee, etc....then I would be authorized to take the exam.

I got the same letter back in sept of 2008. I filed my stuff because I also had a misdeamnor for theft when i was 17! I got my letter like less than a month from when I filed it. And the letter just tells me that I am eligible to take the exam but I would need to meet everything that is required of me to graduate nursing school, 100 fee and umm I think the application to sit for the exam. Is that what your letter says? I kind of want to call them too and see if I can still apply for a job my last semester. It says send the requirements prior to graduation...does that mean as soon as you pass the nursing program is the earliest you can send the information in? It says it takes 30 days from them to send you your approval to sit for the boards.

I have a felony but the charge was dismissed. I never was even actually charged, but I was arrested. It was 8 years ago. Anyway, I am already in nursing school and I didn't apply to the BON first because at the time I was under the impression that since I was not convicted I did not have to file. I am going to graduate in May and am very anxious that it is taking so long.

don't worry, you'll be fine. that had to my brother actually. he faxed them information showing that he graduated and that he got awards during the program and that he was never convicted or whatever and he got his letter sooner than later so he can take his nclex.

Remember- no matter if you got charged or not. if you get fingerprinted or arretsed. it shows on your record

I submitted a DO mid-December 2008 and I received my response the first of February 2009. Mine was a misdemeanor committed when I was 17 (now 25). Hope this helps. :specs:

I also filed a petition for declaratory order on 11-2-09 im sure they got the packet because they cashed my check. i have been an lvn for 20 years and got a dwi in may. im now in the bridge program and hoping to get a response soon. i have no previous record with the law or the bon. my dwi charge is pending at this time (i dont drink regularly and was suprised to get arrested after only 3 beers pulled over because of speeding) the money amount to send was confusing i hope it's not the hold up. I did have my prints done at L1 even though they already have them because of my lvn license. anyone with any info or insight on this????:o

Hey guys! I just got a call from the Texas BON and she said they have approved me to sit for the NCLEX and I should be getting a letter soon with the approval. She also said that 180 days before I take the NCLEX I need to submit a copy of the paper work that they are mailing to me.

Whew....I'm glad Im done with this! It was a stressful process...but good to know I was approved right before X-mas :)
