criminal conviction and becoming a RN

Nurses Criminal

Published

hi all i have just applied to university to do adult nursing and i have received an interview. The problem is that i have a criminal conviction of robbery back when i just turned 18. i am now nearly 23 but i am extremely worried about what lays ahead in my career path. Even though i got convicted of the offence, i myself did not do the crime. i was there at the time of this happening but have had to accept the consequences and own up to it. i am also worried that if i did get accepted for my course that at the end of my degree i would get declined for a licence. Has anyone had this problem before or anyone have any information for me. this would be greatly appreciate as i don't know whether i am wasting my time. I also must add in that only a year ago i did do some voluntary work at my local NHS hospital. Thank you for taking the time to read i hope to hear back from you all :)

Don't lose hope. It is a costly experience to clear your name. Your past is in the past. I would get it expunged first before I go further in the program. Also consult an attorney for free advice. Hope this helps

It all depends on state you live in and the BON, now the clinical sites may not approve your background and if so you can't complete the program without clinical component.
