A question for my wife's situation?

Nurses Criminal

Published

my wife is taking an lvn program to pursue her career....she was charged with child endangerment 2 years ago by leaving our infant inside the car for more than 5 minutes. the judge told her she had to take parenting class and so she did and finished and turn in the the papers to the court. is this considered a misdemeanor or a felony? she had to pay a few hundred dollars of fine also. she was only locked up for an hr then the cps talked to her about taking the parenting class... now the real question is here, can she still get her lpn license?

You should ask your lawyer, and maybe the State Board of Nursing. I don't think anyone here will be in a position to answer this.

She will have to get in touch with her state's Board of Nursing regarding this issue.

I don't know, but in Texas we have what's called a declaratory order. It must be completed in Texas if anybody has ever been arrested for anything! If your state has this, she should do this before starting any classes. It would be awful to go thru nursing school and then not be approved by the board. Call your state nursing board and find out.

You and your wife deffinately need to contact your state BON and maybe a lawyer. We aren't able to answer that question for you.

I know that in Alabama the board will not answer questions related to arrests, etc. They will only address it after you finish and wish to take the exam.

Nursing programs do not promise that you will be able to take the NCLEX, just that you can graduate with a degree.
