Travel Floor Rn vs Travel Critical Care RN

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hello Nurses!

I'm debating doing travel nursing. I'm a RN on a Neuro medsurg unit and have been working for a year. I really want to do travel nursing. I'm wondering if I should wait to do traveling after I've worked in Critical Care for a year, or if I should apply as a Floor RN. I have a friend who is a CC RN doing traveling and she says its better to be a CC first. I'm wondering if anyone is a Floor Rn traveler, or if anyone has done both. What are your thoughts? Thanks for your help!

Their is something wonderful about traveling. We loved it. Many companies are looking for 2 years experience though. Being in a place for just 13 weeks and moving on keeps you away from all that garbage that unfortunately nurses face all to much being stuck in a unit.

Were you on Critical Care units? or general medsurg units?

Thanks for responding!

Wife has done both. Me, I'm a retired business owner and go for the ride in suport. But now we are not traveling, wife is back in school to be a FNP while working in ICU.
