Swedish RN Residency Sept 2014

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hi guys! I just accepted a position in the Swedish RN residency program starting in Sept 2014. I will be on the postpartum floor at the first hill location. Anybody else doing this program? I would love to meet anybody who is!

Hi!

I also accepted a residency position in postpartum starting in September 2014 at Swedish First Hill. I think that others will be trickling in as they complete more hiring. The HR person I spoke to said that they will be doing hiring for the next 1-1.5 months for the Sept cohort.

Hi @toucheturtle! That's awesome we both got Postpartum! I was wondering if there might be someone else in postpartum too - yay! Yeah I heard that too, it sounds like it is still early in the hiring process.

Hello! :) Glad to hear that you guys got the position. Just want to ask for some interview tips if it's okay. I have an in-person with the sr. HR this week.

Hi @laurie3 - congrats on the interview! A lot of the questions at first were logistical, like where did you go to nursing school, can you work 12 hour night shift, can you work a variable shift, have you been a nurse tech, how many hours in your senior practicum, etc. The other more typical interview questions were - why swedish? why X nursing specialty (like postpartum, med/surg, NICU, etc.)? what skills do you think are necessary for this position? what leadership positions did you have in high school or college? That's all I can remember for now.

Have really clear reasons for why you want to work at swedish and why you are a good fit for the specialty. My SR recruiter interview didn't have any behavior questions at all. Good luck!! :)

Thank you for your reply, Linds11 :)

I have an initial interview for the postpartum floor too! I am super nervous for the interview so thanks so much for the interview tips! :) Is the consensus pretty much not many behavioral questions at all?

For the 1st interview with HR I didn't have any behavioral questions but the 2nd interview with the managers and peer interview team it was all behavioral questions. Good luck!!

I am applying for postpartum positions in January and would appreciate if any feedback on those that got positions what you think gave you a competitive edge in getting hired. Have you done rotations at Swedish and what sort of experience do you have in postpartum?

Hey all,

I have similar questions as @howardm1. I have an upcoming interview for the residency position in postpartum at Swedish next week. Any advice on the in-person interview would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks :)
