Nursing Volunteer Opportunities or Internships

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hey y'all! I am looking for nursing volunteer opportunities or internships around Houston, Texas. Does anyone know of anything?

I'm a pre-nursing student applying to nursing schools and I really need some hospital experience. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas! Thank you(:

Volunteers are always welcome in most hospitals, but their duties are strictly non-clinical in order to avoid violations of the plethora of Federal laws governing patient confidentiality and privacy. So, those jobs will help you become familiar with the 'surface', but really aren't valuable in terms of patient care skills. Healthcare clinical internships are only for students actively engaged in clinical education programs or recent graduates.

I have never heard of a program that requires 'hospital experience' for admission. Are you seeking this on the advice of someone who feels that it will strengthen your application? If so, you may want to double-check because that information may not be accurate.

Yes, I am applying to nursing schools right now and a lot of the schools ask for work and volunteer experience in health care and community. I was just wondering if anyone maybe knew about an opportunity like this or if they had any advice for me.
