Help! I'm not sure what my next step is.

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

I graduated nursing school three years ago. In that time, I have been a telemetry nurse, office nurse, and worked in a facility with multiple units such as: SNF, rehab unit, TBI/behavioral. I am questioning whether nursing is even the right decision for me. Some days are fine, but others I just want to walk out. I have had several older nurses make the comment that I shouldn't be feeling that way, or it's too early to be so burned out. I am starting to thing that maybe bedside nursing isn't for me. I know that there are several different career paths I can take as a nurse, but I am not sure where to start. I am a very indecisive person and I do not know what my options are. I currently have my BSN and am not opposed to going back to school. I know I don't want to manage or be a nurse practitioner. I am curious about nursing informatics (I am still not sure what that is), research, or possibly education. Is there anyone out there that has experience in any of those areas that can help advise me? I would love not to work holidays and weekends if possible. I need to make enough money to make a living, but honestly I would rather be happier than anything else.

Nursing is tough. Burnout is inevitable I feel like. The older nurses have no bearing on how you feel. And, there is no timeline for it. Nursing informatics is what I'm studying now at . Just Google "non-traditional Nursing Jobs"
