Everyday, Newspaper talk about nursing shortage. But some nurses in the certain areas can't even get a job quickly or under paid. I wonder where is the shortage at? I want get a good summary to help those nurses who are have troubles to land a job. Thank you John:redbeathe

I know Tucson Arizona needs nurses really bad. You can get a job on the day you go out.

Anything you get on here is going to be anecdotal. How severe a shortage is can be perceived differently in even the same city, let alone different parts of the same state.

Doing some research online should yield more accurate info, if a nurse is truly looking to relocate.

Interesting, my hubby, baby and I just recently moved from the Tucson area to Colorado. We'll be returning to the Tucson area one day. What about LPN's? Does Tucson need LPN's?

No shortage in MN that I'm aware of. Some of the big hospitals are in need in the twin cities...but I don't think it's from an actual nursing shortage. Pay is good here compared to cost of living...so I'm sure that's a factor. I'm often appalled when I read here about pay/nurse ratios in other parts of the country.

I live in SD and there is no nursing shortage here. It's hard to find a job in certain parts of the state but I know that Sioux Falls is usually looking for help. The pay is not as good as many other areas in the country but it's good for the cost of living here.

California's shortage is pretty big, there's always tons of ads and billboards on the freeways of different hospitals offering all these bonuses. LVN's have a lot of opportunities if they're willing to search a bit.

Southern Nevada has a massive nursing shortage. The problem is that even though there are 4 or 5 nursing schools -- 80% of the graduates go to California or their home state after graduating. The population is rising so quickly and hospitals are being built so quickly, but not enough staff. There are many hospitals that assign 9 or 10 patients to their med/surg nurses.

Our state has a deal with Filipino nurses who are looking for citizenship. They will bring them over here from the Phillipines and they are able to quickly get citizenship if they sign a contract to work X amount of years.

Tennessee keeps churning out nurses like there is no tomorrow, so there isn't really a shortage around these parts. If you go to the bigger cities like Nashville, though, you can usually find a job fairly easily doing something.

Our teachers tell us that Florids and the southwest has alot of opportunities for new nurses.

nevermind.

there's still a shortage.

the few articles i skimmed, indicated NOT a shortage of nurses, but a shortage of nurses willing to work in current conditions.
