transfusions

What is your method of measuring competency of RNs who administer blood transfusions? Is a quota within a certain time frame required on an annual basis? A skills lab? etc. How do your nurses achieve and then maintain and document competency with this procedure?

We use skills validation and record review for blood transfusions. Since documentation is all one on one flowsheet its not difficult to trend.
