Primary Nursing

by kellyj

I am looking for anyone who can give me some information about how primary nursing works on your unit. My unit is currently evaluating our care delivery model, and would like to move more towards primary nursing. I am on a pediatric oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant unit that is 38 beds. One major difficulty we are finding is the combination of 8/12 hour shifts. Any input from other facilities would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Kelly, I don't have info on primary nursing, but I am interested in learning more about what your pedi oncology/bone marrow unit is like. What are some pros and cons (besides the obvious) to pedi oncology. I am a pedi nurse with 13 yrs exp. and thinking about moving to oncology. Thanks.
