by Seank May 7, '06What happens if someone wants to go into nursing but has Hep C? My neighboors daughter asked me because I have relatives in Healthcare, but they don't know. Would a hospital hire them and then just take precautions? Or would their workmen's comp not allow that? Anyone know? Would be a waste of time to go to school if she can't get hired.

- Nov 29, '07 by blueheavenHep C testing is done by most employers when the person goes for their physical. You got to be honest about it and tell them. We have a couple nurses who work on my unit who have Hep and they have no limitations on their care. Universal precautions are just that....universal.
- Nov 29, '07 by Xbox Live AddictQuote from blueheavenI've never worked at any place that required employees to submit to Hep C testing. However, I've worked with quite a few highly competent people over the years who freely admit to being positive for HBV or HCV.Hep C testing is done by most employers when the person goes for their physical. - Nov 30, '07 by blueheavenA friend of mine who went to work at a local hospital, found out that she had Hep C because it was part of her pre employment workup. (She's been a nurse since the dark ages, like me) Fortunately she received treatment and still is virus free. I work for the government and they also test for hep C on employment.
