    I'm working with my unit council in trying to make a protocol for nurses in dealing with patients whom have a substance abuse problem. We have an assessment tool known as CIWA but this focuses mostly on alcohol withdrawal not so much in drug abuse. I wanted to reach out and see if any other hospitals have something similar to what I am looking for

    We use CIWL for Alcohol and Benzos and COWS for opiates. These tools are designed to assess withdrawal.
