Sorry for all you northerners, this is old news...
But in NC... we have SNOW.... a 10 minute drive home was 90 minutes but it was GREAT
Miss it... from Buffalo where we measure feet per hour... here in fayetteville.... I might get 3 inches... but all schools are closed and all the bread and milk is gone... those of you not southern... don't ask... I think the bread is used to line the driveways to soak up the snow!!!!!
enjoying it all... hope you are too:kiss

Yep - every time they predict snow in the south, everyone goes out and buys up bread, coffee and toilet paper! Always these 3 items.

I'm a southerner and have to absolutely laugh at us. I spent New Year's week in Ohio where we got 3-5 inches/day. Now I'm home and last night we got a "dusting" and EVERYTHING is closed. I mean EVERYTHING. Even Dr's offices and health clinics. Supposedly somewhere there is some ice, which I don't doubt because that's what we usually get here, but still - people, come on!! It's rather amusing. If I can get a picture I'll post it so all you "yankees" can get the same laugh I am!

nimbex,
I'm here in Fayetteville too...I'm from Cleveland and I now realize I don't miss the snow at all! :)
It's still coming down. There are accidents everywhere because the people here aren't accustomed to driving in these conditions.
I can, but I'm scared that someone else will slide into my van :roll
Well...I can look at the bright side..I have extra time to study and spend time with my children
Have fun...I might make a snowman! :)

Same here in Atlanta!
I'm from Minnesota and I don't understand the milk and bread thing either.
I saw a news story this morning which followed a woman home from The Home Depot. She had pipe insulation and they stated she winterizes her pipes, get this, EVERY YEAR. She actually buys the stuff every year! Um. Maybe it's because I'm from the north (maybe not) but shouldn't someone tell this poor woman she can just LEAVE IT ON???
Wacky Southerners! :chuckle

Our tourism industry here in Wisconsin would really appreciate it if you all could send some snow here. In my town we have not even had a half inch yet this winter.
I'll never forget a Christmas vacation where DH and I drove to Phoenix through Amarillo, Texas. There was a freak ice storm in Amarillo and we were the only drivers to get through. We actually heard some local police say "well, not sure what we should do here...". There were probably a hundred cars in ditches.
My yankee relatives in Georgia also verify the bread/milk/coffee/toilet paper thing.
