Sick with fever....keep interview or reschedule?

Nurses Job Hunt

What is considered professional in this case? I'm considering calling and leaving it up to the company...that is, do you want to keep the interview or reschedule? Is this kosher or will this ruin my chances? They've already informed me it is a 4-hour interview process.

When I first started reading this my response was going to be take a Tylenol and suck it up, but 4 hours??? No way can anyone push themselves to be on top of their game for that long while sick. Definitely call and talk to them, hopefully they are human and understand.

Yes, the 4-hour time frame is why I'm a little concerned about my performance. Even then, I'm tempted to *try* to push through it. If the interview was an hour or so, I'd most definitely suck it up and just go. Thanks for responding.

In this economy? If the job is at all one you might take, suck it up, down whatever you would normally take for what you got wrong with ya, and go.

If you already are working, and this is just you sniffing around for possible new digs, you have more leeway in your decision-making. If you are out of work, this might be your only serious interview. I know people who have had one interview in 2+ years!!!! (and these are awesome candidates).

Reschedule. Even if you weren't sick before that kind of interview, you'll be sick after.

Seriously, I've had many interviews, but 4 hours?

It is an interview for the President's nurse?

All right. I've decided to keep the interview time. Thanks for the feedback.

Good choice!! I totally agree with Netglow! These hospitals nowadays are putting a disclaimer on interviews! I read today "Please be on time for your interview and please let us know if you can not attend. Please be advised there is no guarantee that your interview time with be rescheduled due to the high volume of applicants"...something to that effect so BASICALLY if you cant make it, we will call someone that can! I hope you are able to push through and hope that you feel better! Hopefully they will offer you the job and it will all feel worth it.
