1) You don't tell them you're pregnant when you interview. You are not required to, and that's the end of it.

2) Don't count your chickens before they hatch. You make your decision on whether you quit the first job AFTER you get offered the new one in writing and have accepted it, unless you are independently wealthy, in which case you walk after your next shift.

3) Stop running your thoughts past your stepmom. She doesn't know, and doesn't walk in your shoes, and isn't being the least bit helpful right now.

I'm 15 weeks pregnant. It's a little obvious. Unless you thought I was just packing some extra weight! I don't want her to think I wasn't being honest from the beginning. I dont know what the heck to do. Why should it matter if a woman is preg anyway! Employees get pregnant everyday and i dont know why it matters...I just don't want then to think I'm not honest and find a reason to let me go in the 90 day probation period... My step mom said she's afraid because I've missed 2 work days they'll fire me that's why it's better to resign first

When you interview they aren't allowed to ask, "Hey, sweetie, putting on a little weight, huh?" or "Are you pregnant?" Ignore this issue. That's not dishonesty, that's the law. You are right, it doesn't matter.

Your stepmother is talking through her hat. If you called in as per protocol, that's no reason to fire you. Does she give any other indications of wanting you to fail at nursing?

You don't think the HH agency will think I'm dishonest and it will start us off on bad ground....i dont know she was a nurse and it didn't work out for her so she retired and stays home.

Yeah, they will, but legally they can't do anything about that. It's none of their business and they have to live with the rules society gives them.

A-HA. So "it didn't work out for her" and now she's coincidentally making you feel like it won't work out for you? Are you listening to yourself? Do not share any more of this with her! Go to the HH agency and knock 'em dead! Well, maybe that was the wrong expression, hmmm. Go get that job!

I have to tell you, I went on my first nursing job interview 9 months pregnant. It was more than obvious, and it was a double interview for both ICU and Med/Surg. No one asked about my pregnancy because its not allowed, it never even became an issue. I took on the med/surg job and glad I did, I learned alot.

As far as interviewing four months pregnant, really, someone who doesn't know you probably won't say "oh sheesh is she preggers" yet unless you're skinny, even then its possible to make it less obvious if you feel self conscious.

I agree, please don't put your notice in until you signed a offer from the home health company. Verbal offers can fall through and the hiring process can take a long time sometimes. A job you don't like is better than no job at all if you need money coming in. I would not tell them about your pregnancy, it is none of their business. They may suspect it, but you dont need to confirm it. Good luck in the interview!

Had the interview. Waiting for my background check to be approved then we will go from there.... I've had not so good luck in jobs and a bunch of my nursing school friends have had 4-5 rn jobs....

I was asked about my pregnancy so I'm glad I planned on telling.
