We are probably going with CPSI

well, our hospital has been looking at other software vendors. Currently Meditech Magic.... small hospital, with a CEO who hates computers. Our IT dept is one old guy who should have retired years ago. He is so behind the times, we have no firewall on any of our computers, he fights viruses every week. He won't fight to send anyone to any type of computer or meditech training. With each of our modules, we could send one person to training. Im expected to build the NUR module (Meditech recomends a team of 6-8) while supporting LAB, RAD, PCI, MOX, PHARM and OE. Not to mention if anyone in ADM or HR needs anything added to a screen, they ask me to do it, since none of them ever had any training!

The modules that are live are only half-A$$ built. So taking into account the lack of IT support, the lack of CEO support, we have been looking at CPSI. I am hoping I can tweak it enough and work the build enough to get what we want out of it....and not have to worry about building the rest of the hospitals sections.

We go for a site visit to the headquarters next week. Overall, even if the system is a step backward from the functionality of Meditech...not so in our case. The only things we have gotten out of this system are the things I have been able to sqeeze out of it. And that's not much!

:throcomp: Im going to miss the old clunker (Meditech Magic) but Im looking forward to moving on!

Ok Cathy. I will definitely keep you posted on the Order Entry implementation. So far it has been quick and crazy. I am the Point of Care Coordinator and we do not go up with that until Jan 2011, but we are preparing now as there is a ton of work to do. I can't even imaging doing all of that building by yourself, but I think you are right about it getting easier as you go!

We go to vote on the system next week. Have the CEO meeting with CPSI to talk about price. Just heard another hospital in New York just signed with CPSI. (so we won't be alone in the implementation!)

We are being orientated to CPSI right now. So far, I am not pleased. There are several sections of MDS skipped, the MDS is broken up into 3 different areas, the RUG score calculates inaccurately (that could be the table not set up properly), the dates auto populate in section AB11 & I believe VB2 & 4, unable to pull reports, unability to see several open assessments at a time, unable to see what type of assessment is open for the resident. The CPSI staff are unprofessional and can not answer questions timely. This is definately NOT a program for SNF!

I am a current user of CPSI, and would be happy to consult on setting up flowcharts, E-forms, CPOE, pharmacy, or any ancillary department set up that you may need help with. I am our current Clinical IT person, and we have succesfully implemented all of the above, and have maintained CPOE for over 2 years now.

how do you like CPSI? on a whole. and how does the staff like it? I know everyone hates change....so I take that into account!

we sign our contract next week, and then the fun begins! I'll probably be in charge of all the clinical areas

Sorry, did not realize about not posting email addresses. If anyone would like to send me a private message for more information you are more than welcome to do that.

As for CPSI, we all like it. Nobody likes change of course, especially nurses. But, I think that CPSI is very easy to use, and user friendly. It is easy to adapt to, and pretty easy to understand even for those who aren't that computer savvy. I have used several systems, including Meditech, and find that CPSI is one of the easiest to use.

that is great to hear. There are things I love about MEDITECH. But for people that arn't used to a computer at all, it is very hard for them to get used to even the basic navigation.

We are set for a fall go-live, and we are doing the big-bang implementation. everything (exept PCOE) will go live at the same time. Im glad I have the summer before this happens! Im sure I'll be very busy come September/October!

I have heard from a few users that the CPSI clinical reports are very hard to use. Have you experienced this as well?

well, I was nominated as Project director for our CPSI install..... mainly because our IT department is a joke. So I decided I may as well blog the whole thing...good or bad! we are just gathering info right now, and will have our first meetings next month with CPSI, and we go live in September! follow the whole painful thing here....

from what I have seen of the reports, they are a lot easier than using the MEDITECH ones we currently have. Since you have to attach every screen at every level. With the CPSI ad hoc reports, you just have to know what you are looking for.

We have CPSI currently in our small critical care facility and it is not what I think it could be. We rushed into our go live(almost a year ago) and been trying to clean it up every since. I work in the OR and we use mainly Eforms but we have been doing the Initial Interview and Initial Assessment on flow charts to mirror how Med-Surg gathers information(as to ease with surgery admits to the floor). My question is what are the processes you use at your facility? Is there anyway you could post some examples of your eforms (as I also am capable of creating eforms). Appreciate any advice to make admiting outpatient surgery pts more reasonable. It is currently taking one person almost an hour to admit a pt.
